Indoor unit box

I chose a traditional 'glue and screw' approach to constructing a box, using hardboard and squaresectioned wooden strips. The photos show the basic wooden box and also looking inside the box.

The box lid holds the LCD the buttons and the LED. The buttons are mounted on a simple piece of Strip-board. The dimensions of the box aren't critical. The top of the box is sloped slightly so that the LCD display can be read more easily.

I wanted a small unit, so I left very little room to spare inside the box. I had to take component height into account, and leave enough headroom for the leads that connect to the Molex connectors.

The positions of the holes in the box where the power and stereo connectors exit are critical. It took a bit of fiddling around to work out the exact position for these. To finish the box I used metallic blue spray then varnish spray.

The finishing touch on the lid was adding the text. I simply produced the design in a drawing package on my PC then printed it out on normal paper, sprayed the paper with multiple coats of varnish, then stuck it to the lid.
